Orkut for Opera Mini
I have seen some people sit for HOURS at the social networking site called Orkut. Many of them even try to get onto the site through their puny mobile browsers. Some time ago I had written about Opera Mini and how well it rendered pages; even those with Javascript. However it has a flaw… poor/no support for AJAX. With Google pushing its AJAX login box inside an IFrame on every one of its services, logging in through Opera Mini on its sites it next to impossible.
Same with Orkut. So for all you Orkut fanatics out there I came up with a URL that would allow you to get there even with Opera Mini!

This is NO CUSTOM link but a link to the login box page provided by Google. I think with a little modification, other services which use the “Google Box” can also be made more accessible. Feel free to submit if you come up with any and I will post them here 
P.S. It seems people were not able to scrap using Opera Mini. To do this type your scrap in the text box, then type this Javascript as the URL in the browser and your scrap will be posted! You might want to bookmark the URL for easier access

Thanks for the comment! The idea behind this post is that people needn’t be sitting in front of the PC to socialize; they should be able to do it from anywhere, even on the go… Though the GPRS speeds offered by the mobile phone operators in India are nothing to write about, IMHO the situation should be improving in the near future and we should really be able to scrap our friends from anywhere without requiring a PC with an internet connection.

Dude… checked out the link, doesn’t seem to work with me, though I am able to get through the AJAX login box, but as soon as I enter my Username and Password it directs me back to the default Orkut homepage.
May be Google is clever, had read in Orkut FAQ’s that Orkut is not accesible through mobile devices.
Else something ’s wrong with my browser, I tried it on both Opera Mini as well as on my default phone browser. Does this work with you ???

Scrapping from Opera Mini is very much possible. After you enter the scrap message, just point your browser to:

I have a nokia 3230 phone.I cannot scrap any 1 from my cell.I have opera mini installed.It shows connecting,but the scrap still appears there & is not send 2 my friend also.Is it possible 2 scrap from my cell.I tried the javascript link,but finding hard 2 scarp.
Rahul, it is very difficult for me here to pinpoint the exact problem that might be there. Just make sure you are following the steps correctly.
1. Write the scrap in the scrap box of your friend.
2. Use the javascript as the URL for your browser.

I hav nokia 3230 nd hav installed opera mini.Still unable to submit the scraps using that javascript.So could u tell wat may be the problem.
And if possible do suggest sum other method to do the same.
It seems that people with Nokia 3230 are facing this problem. As I do not have this model, I cannot figure out what could be wrong!
